Unfolding

Reconstructing the Self serves as a visual metaphor for the process of therapy and the exploration of identity. The use of black and white intensifies the interplay of light and shadow, evoking a sense of introspection and the dichotomy between what is seen and what is hidden. Through the obscured faces, there is an intimate yet universal struggle depicted – one of reconciling the visible and the invisible aspects of our identity.

The bandages, simultaneously constricting and protective, represent the therapeutic journey: a path toward healing, yet marked by the discomfort of self-discovery and the dismantling of barriers. These photographs confront the viewer with the complexity of self-perception and the multifaceted nature of healing. They challenge us to consider how identity is constructed and deconstructed, how the body is both a vessel for and a barrier to true self-understanding.
