Building on the short documentaries made in the second year of this specialism, in their final year students continue their investigations into issues of representation, truth and reality, modes and approaches to documentary and non-fiction storytelling and structure. Working in groups, students specialise in one or two industry production roles to produce a documentary of 12-15 minutes from a successfully pitched idea. Peer to peer and tutor feedback forms an integral part of the learning experience designed to really advance the quality of work. Students regularly produce radical, original and critically acclaimed award-winning documentaries which are shown in festivals around the globe. The beauty and quality of the productions on this Documentary specialism pathway, continue to astound us every year, and this year’s productions are a fantastic example of this tradition of technically accomplished, aesthetically beautiful and critically informed non-fiction filmmaking.
