Conservatory

Conservatory: A greenhouse for cultivating or keeping delicate flower or plants. (Oxford English Dictionary).

The definition of conservatory made me confused. Why do plants thrive perfectly fine in the wild, but humans want to plant them inside buildings made of concrete and steel? Humans claim it is to protect, to keep delicate plants, but is this necessary?

In this project, I draw parallels between the relationship of humans to architectures and that of birds to nature. Both serve as habitats for the other. I contrast the behaviours of humans and birds, as well as the structures of architectures and the natural environment, and explore the relationship between these four elements through my lens.

All four elements can coexist in one single space. But do human behaviours truly impact the existence of nature and birds? Through these comparisons, I aim to highlight any contradictions. I captured the complex relationship between humans and nature, with moments of harmonious coexistence as well as potential underlying conflicts.
